Note from our Wing Commander, Col James P. Furlong

The Auburn Veterans Day Parade will be live-streamed on KOMO's website. You are reminded:

  1. Anyone not wearing the uniform properly at this high visibility event will be respectfully excluded from participation.

  2. This applies to every member at any level regardless of membership, grade, or rank.
Please ensure your uniform adheres to CAPM 39-1 and the applicable WAWG S39-1. Tip: Have a cadet officer inspect your uniform before attending the parade. The manual has changed over the years. Don’t be caught by surprise!

Registration open for the following:

  • Color Guard

  • Flight Commander for Officers (parade)
    Will teach basic drill to other Officers the morning of


  • Flight Commander for Cadets (parade)
    Will lead the cadet flight and practice drill before parade

  • Recruiters (booth)
    Should be knowledgeable about CAP.

  • Transportation Officer
    Will coordinate for necessary vehicle(s) and organize driver(s) for parade

    If you have a vehicle to sign in to the parade, please contact the Transportation Officer in advance (or email alex.lepeska@wawg.cap.gov until one is selected). We will see you at the Parade Check-In location/time!

Check-In

To participate in the activity, you must be checked in! Your uniform will be inspected upon check-in, and members out of compliance with CAPM 39-1 will be assisted with corrections to the best of our ability, or if necessary turned away. This is a televised event.

FOR THOSE MARCHING IN THE PARADE:  
WHERE:        Auburn High School, 711 E Main StAuburn, WA
WHEN:          Check 0800 hrs to NLT 0850

FOR THOSE IN THE RECRUITMENT BOOTH:
WHERE:        1st St SW & S Division St, Auburn, WA
                       (specific booth assignment info to come)
                       Access S. Division St. from Second St. SE

WHEN:          Check in 0800 hrs to NLT 0830

                       City Hall will be open for public restroom use.
                       Portable restrooms available nearby.
                       Food Vendors on-site throughout the day.

                       Tear-down must not start prior to 1400 hrs.


CHECK OUT:  The parade is long and will not likely be over until 1330-1400 hrs. You must sign out before leaving.

Uniform of the Day

FOR THOSE MARCHING IN THE *PARADE:
BDU's (ironed/starched) or ABU's (All uniforms will be complete, and boots polished)

Reminder: It is not authorized to glue or sew your name to your BDU or ABU cap.


FOR THOSE IN THE RECRUITMENT BOOTH:
 
BLUES or CORPORATES or BDU/ABU's (Uniforms will be complete, clean, ironed, and shoes polished/shiny)

Plan for rain and cold! You may wear appropriate civilian rain gear and gloves while we have pre-parade practice.

Unauthorized outerwear may not be worn during the parade, so please plan appropriately. Layers may/should be worn under your uniform as long as they are not visible. Rain gear will be kept in a CAP vehicle during the parade so it can be retrieved at the end.

Recruitment booth staff should consider bringing gloves.
