The 2017 Washington Wing Cadet Competition will be from 10-12 Mar 2017
Location: Camp Robert L. Boucher, Ephrata, WA

1. Forms required for participation: CAPF 31, CAPF 160, CAPF 161, CAPF 163 (Cadets Only) - (due at sign-in on 10MAR17)

2. The cost per participant (both staff and competitor) is $25. Payment for teams will be through a Unit Funds transfer from the participating unit to WAWG HQ. Following registration, unit funds will be due to Wing to cover participation cost NLT 17FEB17

Each squadron may field one team, which must consist of a minimum of the following:

6 x Cadets (must have completed achievement 1)
2 x Senior members or Cadet Sponsor Members (must have completed CPP).

Packing/Equipment List:

Each Team is responsible for providing the following:

1 x American Flag

1 x Squadron Flag

2 x Parade Rifles

1 x Iron and ironing board

Uniform Items:
Note -
Senior Members may wear the Corporate Uniform (polo or aviator shirt) in lieu of the AF Blue Service Uniform

- 1 Short Sleeve AF Blue Shirt / Blouse

- 1 Pair AF Blue Pants

- 1 Set of Ribbons

- 1 Blue CAP Cadet name plate

- 1 AF Blue Enlisted Flight Cap with Hat Device (or rank for Cadet Officers)

- 2 White V-neck T-shirts (male)

- 1 AF blue belt with silver buckle

- 1 pair low quarter shoes (well broken in and shined)

- 2 pair black socks (dress socks not boot socks)

- 1 set military shirt garters

- Tie (either four-in-hand or clip-on, with tie tack for males, or tie tab for females)

- 1 x White Color Guard Shoulder Cord (required for each competitor)

Non-uniform clothing:

- 3 sets of underwear

- 2 bras (Female)

- 1 sports bra (Female)

- 2 pairs athletic socks

- 1 pair running shoes (well broken in)

- 1 pair navy blue only athletic shorts)

- 1 black t-shirt (plain or CAP activity-related)

- 1 set of long-sleeve sweatshirt and sweat pants (preferred gray, black, or blue)

- 1 raincoat or poncho (black or dark blue)

Additional Required Items:

- Current Membership Card

- CAPF 31, CAPF 160, CAPF 161, CAPF 163

- Sleeping bag or bed sheets and blankets (linens are not provided for the barracks)

- Pillow with pillow case

- Mesh laundry bag

- Hangers

- Notebook and pens

- Shoe shine kit with black polish

- Towel

- Personal hygiene kit

Ascots, helmets, bloused boots, leggings, service caps, and service coats will not be worn.

For those of you unfamiliar with Cadet Competition, below is an excerpt from CAPP 52-4, the National Cadet Competition Curriculum Guide (additional details on Cadet Competition can be found within the CAPP):

  1. Mission. The CAP National Cadet Competition program showcases the full range of challenges in cadet life experienced at the squadron level, and new areas of learning that are important to America.
  2. Vision. Squadrons and individual cadets motivated to excel in all facets of the CAP Cadet Program. c. Program Goals. To achieve its mission and vision, the NCC program pursues the following goals:

(1) Promote excellence in squadron-level cadet programs. NCC’s contribution in this goal area is measured in two ways. First, total cadet participation, system-wide, is measured year-to-year, using the 2010 data set as the initial baseline. Second, the average annualized cadet promotion rate for participating squadrons will be compared with the non-participating squadrons’ average. 

(2) Promote individual excellence and learning in leadership, aerospace, fitness, and character. This is measured through end-of-activity self and peer assessments, with a goal of achieving an average score of 4.0 or better out of 5.0. 

(3) Showcase today’s cadets as tomorrow’s aerospace leaders. This public relations goal is measured quantitatively through media mentions and impressions, year-to-year, and qualitatively through partnerships maintained or strengthened with aerospace industry, senior military officials, educational leaders, and other natural stakeholders. 

(4) Achieve ever-increasing programmatic efficiency and return on investment. This goal is measured in terms of the budget performance for appropriated and corporate funds expended at the national level, and through feedback from teams and the NCC staff’s after action reports
